D.I.V.A.S. Consignment Boutique was established in 1993 as a result of co-owner Veronica Slater’s love for consignment boutique shopping. Consignment shopping dates back to her childhood when the women in her family would get together in search of a good bargain. Veronica is from Chicago where there was a consignment shop that she absolutely loved and no matter what day it was she could always find a good bargain. She intentionally patterned DIVAS after that shop.

According to Veronica, founding DIVAS was really God inspired. “I actually came to the end of myself and everything I thought I wanted to do, and God opened the door. I literally went to get a post office box and came home with a store. I had been looking for a space to get started, and the day I went for the PO box I saw a sign which read what I had been praying for - SMALL SPACE IN PREXISTING BUSINESS. DIVAS was born that day…to God be the Glory!”

D.I.V.A.S. is an acronym for Divinely Inspired Virtuously Anointed Sisters, and its purpose is to clothe the body and minister to the soul. “It is our desire that every woman who leaves the store, leaves feeling good about herself on the inside and out. We believe in the sisterhood of all women and our desire is to empower women to be all that God created them to be.” DIVAS Consignment Boutique specializes in business, business casual, church, bridal and special occasion wear, as well as accessories such as hats, scarves, shoes, belts and purses.

A woman can actually leave DIVAS dressed from head to toe and ready to go to that special event. One of the distinct and exciting features about DIVAS is that, since Veronica is also a flight-crew member, many DIVAS consigners are fellow crew members who consign unique items picked up in exotic spots around the world.

Veronica’s mom, Sherry, always had a hand in the shop’s design and window dressings, and in the fall of 2005 Veronica and Sherry formally became business partners in order to take DIVAS to a another level—in retail as well as in empowering women. We welcome you to DIVAS, the “shop” which will minister to women in various ways through clothes, teas, book clubs, travel clubs and other events.
